Be a Listener

A listener is a person who can lend their ears to listen to someone who may be struggling with some problems. They are the heart and soul of our platform because without them, our goals and work here at Youth Listener wouldn’t be possible. Being a listener gives you the opportunity to comfort and give emotional support to people worldwide. You’ll be able to share your wisdom and counseling to others who need it the most and inspire them along the way.

Internship Program

In Youth Listener’s internship program, you’ll be able to learn new ideas about our advocacy and our organization. You will have the chance to refine your skills in your chosen area of work to gain experience that you can put in your resume. Ambassador and Collaboration Program

Youth Listeners ambassadors and collaborators will further spread our mental health advocacy in their respective communities. They will also help in promoting YL’s services on various social media platforms. FAQ

  • An aspiring Youth Listener starts by filling our application form that is provided on our Instagram page and website which is then evaluated by our applications team. After successful evaluation of the application there will be an interview. Once you have successfully passed the interview you become a Youth Listener.

  • We only use the website chat feature to communicate to users.

  • No, our service can only be accessed by chat.

  • Be online as much as you can! We don’t want to keep the users waiting.

  • Yes, anyone who clears all the application stages can become a Youth Listener.

  • Every volunteer must take on 3 cases a week and 12 cases a month.

  • No, but talk to the users as needed.

  • Youth Listeners should talk to users through the chat and not via phone, video calls or emails.

  • The user might give you information, however, this is not aligned with YL's culture, we value non-detachment highly.

  • We use Slack as our main internal communication platform, you can talk with the team and other listeners, you will also be enrolled in your own community group team.

  • You may tag your community leader or our core team member in crisp.

  • Yes, you may fill out a leave form, however you may only take 2 weeks off per request, you may extend it by applying with a new request.

  • We don't encourage sharing personal information to user, we want to make sure that your conversation with the user is safely secure within crisp only. We want to protect you, the user and YL community.

  • The volunteer contract lasts for 6 months.

  • Yes, we have a monthly gathering with the whole YL community that you must attend.

  • Yes! Youth Listeners are provided with training modules at the end of their recruitment process and are further given training during our monthly global conference.
